ADB Susan Kerr Visits Region 02

Ms. Susan Kerr, Principal Human Resource Specialist of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) together with Dr. Magdalena P. Butad, Project Coordinator of the Technical Education and Skills Development Project, Engr. Joy P. Agustin, Project Development Officer IV of the Civil Works Division and Mr. Riyenzi G. Delos Santos, Project Development Officer IV a=of the Monitoring Divisions visited Region 02 last March 9 & 10 2009.
The team visited the Aparri School of Arts and Trades (ASAT) in Aparri, Cagayan and the Regional Training Center (RTC) in Carig, Tuguegarao City. These schools were recipients of the Technical Education and Skills Development Project (TESDP) - Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded-equipment as well as scholarships.
The Distinctive Area of Competence (DAC) of ASAT is Wood/Bambo-Based Furniture and Cabinet Making while RTC is Welding.
Ms. Kerr inspected the equipment and looked into the learning materials used for instruction.
ASAT trainers demonstrated how to use some of the equipment acquired now housed at the DAC building. There were all acquired through the TESDP-ADB assisted project.
Ms. Kerr met two scholars in ASAT and three ADB scholars in RTC. The grantees who are now gainfully employed were very thankful of the scholarships they received. they also informed Ms. Kerr that they are employed in the local firms in the province.
